VORENICO / FLAG STATE WATER COMPLIANCE

Marshall Islands · Potable Water & Yachts

2026 RMI yacht-code applicability, MLC water and welfare obligations, with evidence gaps transparently marked for code-specific review.

HOW THE MEMBER REGISTER WORKS

Four steps to a review-ready vessel dossier

Choose only your vessel's registered flag. The crew records what can be demonstrated; Vorenico assesses the relevant evidence and identifies outstanding actions.

  1. 01
    Describe the vessel

Vessel name, commercial or private status, length, GT, year and applicable certificate/code.

  2. 02
    Choose a status

Evidence supplied, action needed, not checked yet, or not applicable with a clear reason.

  3. 03
    Reference proof

Enter a logbook page, inspection date, laboratory report ID, maintenance record or corrective action. This field is text only; documents are shared separately.

  4. 04
    Save and export

Save your draft, export the CSV and share that register and source documents with Vorenico for review.

Example: Weekly water inspection → Evidence supplied → “Inspection 26 Oct 2026; deck logbook p.84; responsible engineer: Chief Engineer”.

OFFICIAL SOURCES · REVIEWED 28 OCTOBER 2026

Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) water compliance

The RMI Yacht Code 2026 entered into force on 1 January 2026. It covers distinct commercial, private, PAXY and limited charter use cases. Marine Notice 7-044-1 (Jul 2024) implements MLC Title 3 and specifically cross-refers to 2021 Yacht Code in its historical references; the yacht’s governing 2026 code requirements therefore need to be checked directly. The below register does not invent an exact RMI laboratory interval or mandatory chlorine concentration.

Not a certificate

This evidence register is a member self-assessment tool; a recorded Vorenico technical review is not a statutory flag-state clearance.

Classification matters

Duty: binding if relevant regulation applies. Conditional: only under stated code and circumstances. Best practice: prudent engineering control, not an independent statutory limit. Review: confirm with the administration or applicable code before claiming compliance.

02 / Source-indexed evidence register

16 controls. A member-uploaded status is not verified, and N/A needs a reason.

RM01

Confirm RMI yacht category and commercial status

Applicability

Review

Classify operating status, charter permissions, registered vessel type, GT, persons and certificates before selecting the code chapter.

When in scope: Private yacht / PYLC / YET / Commercial Yacht / PAXY

Evidence requested: Certificate of Registry, commercial/YET/PYLC documents, crew list

RMI26 · Applicability ↗

RM02

Use 2026 Yacht Code rather than superseded 2021 edition

Yacht Code

Conditional

Review applicable MI-103 2026 chapter and the accepted certificate; record any transitional approval. Do not automatically use 2021 water requirements.

When in scope: Yachts subject to RMI Yacht Code 2026

Evidence requested: Current code chapter, compliance certificate, flag amendments

RMI26 · Effective 1 January 2026 ↗

RM03

Verify MLC applicability for seafarer welfare

Applicability

Review

Assess MLC certificate, DMLC Part I/II, exclusions and substantial equivalences before citing duties.

When in scope: Commercial ships/yachts where MLC implementation applies

Evidence requested: MLC/DMLC, work agreements, exemption letters

RMIMN · Purpose and MLC Title 3 ↗

RM04

Provide adequate potable water for crew

Crew welfare

Duty

Drinking water must be of appropriate quality and sufficient quantity, provided without charge under MLC requirements.

When in scope: Where MLC Regulation 3.2 and RMI notice apply

Evidence requested: Potable source records, crew supplies and test records

RMIMN · Title 3 and MLC Standard A3.2 ↗

RM05

Prevent hazardous drinking-water contamination

Storage

Review

Review tanks, materials, vents and cross-connections against the actual current yacht-code chapter.

When in scope: Applicable RMI yacht-code and MLC arrangements

Evidence requested: System P&ID, equipment acceptance, inspection reports

RMI26 · Water and accommodation provisions; confirm clause ↗

RM06

Provide potable water at suitable crew locations

Distribution

Review

Check safe drinking-water access in galley, crew mess and accommodation, and hygienic protection.

When in scope: Vessel accommodation arrangement under applicable Yacht Code

Evidence requested: Outlet inventory, operational tests

RMI26 · Water services; confirm current subsection ↗

RM07

Document drinkwater inspection responsibility and frequency

Inspections

Review

Provide designated inspector, documented results and corrective actions. Confirm interval in applicable RMI documents rather than borrowing UK or Bermuda frequency.

When in scope: MLC and yacht-code inspections: verify exact national interval

Evidence requested: Dated inspections, current DMLC and administration correspondence

RMIMN · MLC Title 3 inspection framework ↗

RM08

Water source and bunkering acceptance

Bunkering

Best practice

Use traceable suppliers, clean dedicated potable hoses, connection hygiene and stop-transfer actions when source is questionable.

When in scope: When loading shore-supplied potable water

Evidence requested: Bunkering logs, source test reports, hose inspection

RMIMLC · Water safety risk controls ↗

RM09

Watermaker quality monitoring and off-spec diversion

Watermaking

Best practice

Keep operational monitoring, alarms, membrane record and documented automatic/operational prevention of off-spec transfer.

When in scope: If a seawater RO/watermaker feeds potable storage

Evidence requested: RO operating logs, quality sensor calibrations, design documentation

RMI26 · Yacht water systems and accepted design ↗

RM10

Disinfection basis and authority acceptance

Treatment

Review

Check treatment design, approvals and performance verification; do not assume automatic RMI authorisation for any named biocide or technology.

When in scope: Installed UV/chemical/silver/chlorine or other treatment

Evidence requested: RO/flag acceptance, validation and calibration

RMI26 · Applicable Yacht Code water-treatment chapter ↗

RM11

Do not invent a fixed legal microbiological testing frequency. Identify required samples from flag, class and ship Water Safety Plan.

When in scope: Lab testing and permits: exact frequency to be verified

Evidence requested: Lab sampling plan, certificates, flag confirmation

RMI26 · Certificate / applicable water provisions ↗

RM13

Crew food, water and catering inspections

RMICOM · Compliance verification ↗

Editorial review: 28 October 2026. Flag State requirements are specific to the vessel, operating status, certificate, build date and accepted alternatives. Re-check the published code and flag/RO correspondence before claiming statutory compliance.
